Case of the Mondays....

80 degrees in FEBRUARY = HEAVEN!!!  :)

I cannot believe the wonderful weather we have been having in the Carolinas lately!  Flowers are coming up, trees are budding, my sinus cavities are working overtime to produce extra mucus... okay, okay, you probably didn't want to know about that last one...but its LIFE!

The weekend was wonderful, Nathan got his hair cut!  Looking sexy as ever :)
Rockin out the mullet...
Elvis?
Ah Yes!

I got my outfit for the wedding next weekend thanks to Ross!  It was originaly 82.00...I got it for 17.99!  YES!

I also came upon some beautiful dishes that I have been wanting for a while  I got 8 dinner plates, 8 salad plates, 8 bowls, a large serving bowl, 4 tea cups and 4 saucers for 90.00!!!!

Dinner with the girls was good, we ate at a restaurant in Charlotte called Cantinas.  It was wonderful and after that Kimmie, Maddox and I went to the mall for a little shopping!

Sunday we went to our church, Bethlehem church.  To listen to the message just click HERE!    Then we went to the inlaws for lunch and relaxing on the deck.  It was so beautiful outside!

Today has not been so great... I had a tooth removed and an implant done back in December and the site is still in the healing stages so I have to wear a false tooth on a retainer...well during our mountain trip the false tooth broke off the retainer and I super glued it back on but then it was crooked and there has just been all kinds of drama with this stupid retainer.. so I finally got it fixed workable, only I have to take it out to eat now so today I went to lunch and I took it out and I felt it break again... so... I had to go back to work with no tooth.  Do you want to talk about humbling?  This is about as humble as it gets.  Im pretty humiliated about it but the doc cant get me till 4.  I guess this is one of those times where God is removing my pride.  I cant get upset about it because everytime I want to be upset about it and say this isnt fair, Im reminded that things in my life could be a LOT worse than just missing a front tooth.... So... PRIDE ASIDE....

SAY CHEESE!!!!!!!!!!

The weekend....

I think Im on a roll with my blogging!  Anyway.... can anyone say TGIF!  Even for a short week it was way too long!  So this is what my weekend is looking like so far....

Saturday morning hubby is getting a hair cut... Im nervous but excited.. he looks good no matter what!  (lucky him!)  He's thinking about cutting off all his lovely locks, Im okay either way.

As you can see... Im a winner either way!

After the haircut...Im hoping to get to work in my yard for a bit.  The past spring and fall I pretty much became addicted to my yard and working outside.  We planted over 200 things plus laid a stone paver patio.  This year I get to enjoy and maintain it!  Here are some pics I am O so proud of!

This is a before shot...

And...AFTER!
This pic was taken about July 2010 all the flowers got much bigger and the bannana tree to the left was as tall as the umbrella on my dining set!  Also the canna lilies in front were taller than me, I hated cutting them down :(  I put a lot of our leftover leaves in my flower beds this winter for insulation and mulch, it seems to have served its purpose because i have some creeping Jenny already coming back.  So this weekend I need to get all those leaves up and start pulling weeds in the front yard.

After that on Saturday My sister, mom, neice and nephew are all going to go out to eat at Southpark for my lovely Sissy's birthday!  You can check out her blog Little Carrigan.  As well as eating we are going to go shopping for me!  I have to find something to wear to a wedding my hubby is in next weekend and I have NOTHING!

Sunday AM we will go to Bethelhem Church for early service.  We just joined about a month ago and are loving it!  After that lunch in Kannapolis with the inlaws!

Wow... Im tired already....

What I've Been Reading

So recently for some reason I have been reading a lot.  Mostly Nicholas Sparks!  It started out with my discovery of Ibooks on my Iphone.  I saw The Last Song and remembered seeing the movie trailers for it so I decided to go for it!  It was 9.99 to download and in about 30 seconds I had the book on my phone!  I read it mostly in the mornings before I got ready for work and in a couple weeks I had it finished!  So I was telling my mother about it and she gave me two more!  So at the mountains I read The Lucky One and now Im on the The Guardian.

I have read Nicholas Sparks books in the past, I cant remember all of them but it seems like for a while all of them would make me very mad or upset at the ending because someone would die or something.  So I stopped reading them for a while.  I also enjoy Lori Wick books but I havent read any of her material in a while.

The Last Song -  I really liked this one, it was a tear jerker, but as I mentioned earlier it didnt break my heart at the end.  I could see everything happening and it really made me want to go to the beach!

The Lucky One -  I enjoyed it but in my opinion its not his best work.  I feel like the scenery was stagnant and you never really got a good picture of what Luke really looked like.  And the ending made you feel like they were not really as in LOVE as you wanted them to be, they were just kind of together. I did like the description of the Crab restaurant they visited, made me want to go there!

So there it is, my first book review blog!

Valentines Mt. Trip!

Its been a while since I have blogged, I've been a slacker!

This past weekend Nathan and I took a little getaway to a cabin near Pigeon Forge, TN.  We had a wonderful time, the cabin was so quaint and cozy.  We went up on Saturday and made excellent time driving up until.... we got into Pigeon Forge!  I couldn't believe the traffic.  It took us an hour to drive maybe 3 miles!  I was completely surprised by this because when we normally take a mountain trip we go to Bryson City, NC and it is basically a ghost town this time of year.  Not so in Pigeon Forge! I always remember going here for a youth retreat our youth group always took every year and as a kid I remember it being a pretty cool place with lots of outlet malls, go-kart tracks, and souvineer shops.  Pretty cool to a kid right?!  Sure!  But me now?  NO!!!  I dont want to offend anyone who LOVES Pigeon Forge or Gatlinburg, but in my own opinion it was as if Myrtle Beach threw up and it landed in Pigeon Forge, TN....

So needless to say, we did not spend much time near the "attractions".  Instead we hung out at our cabin most of the time.  The cabin was three floors, and from the outside you would never guess it.  On the main floor was the kitchen, half bath, a living area with a fireplace a deck with a beautiful view across the mountain and two staircases.  The first staircase led up to the loft with the master bed.  At the top of the stairs was a master bath with a shower and to the left was the bed with a beautiful homemade quilt as the comforter.  The ceiling was low in some places because you were at the top of the cabin!  there was railing next to the bed where you could look out over the main floor of the cabin if you looked down and if you looked straight ahead there was a breathtaking picture window looking out over the mountains.  I got to wake up to the sunrise every morning looking out this window! Back to the main floor and the other staircase.  This one went down to the "basement" level.  It was set up to be a game/entertainment room.  There were bunk beds and a futon couch, a Foosball table and out on the deck was the hot tub.  There was also a 47 inch TV and we took our PS3 to watch movies and also play our MOVE games!  We usually would read by the fireplace during the day, Nathan would grill our supper and then we would go down and watch a movie or play games at night.

On Monday we drove out to Cades Cove.  It was full of beautiful views and wildlife.  We saw 21 Deer, 2 horses, and 3 wild turkeys!

On our way home we made a detour to Dillsboro, NC to eat ribs at Dillsboro Smokehouse.  We had went on a day off a month or so ago on a Monday.  We drove ALL THE WAY THERE just to eat their ribs and when we got there they were closed!  Even though their website said they were open!  I called the manager the next day just to let them know they probably needed to update their website and she was very sorry because it was supposed to have been changed already so they gave us a gift certificate to make up for it!  That was very nice of them and we enjoyed the ribs immensely!  They were so juicy and tender they just fell right off the bone.

We got home and I've still not unpacked!  That is my least favorite part about a trip.  We will probably go to the beach for Memorial day for the weekend and for our anniversary we are going to The Homestead to sing a few songs for the NC Bankers Association.  Then in September we are going on another CRUISE!!!!

More to come soon!
