Am I Missing Something?

Sometimes I dont know what to say in my posts, so the reason I havent been posting latley is mostly because I dont feel like I have anything worth really saying.  I think we all go through these spells.  But today I saw something I have a big question about....  First of all... read these lyrics.

Pretty good song right?  What I got from that is that "we found love in a hopeless place".  Thats a pretty good message!  But apparetnly it really means this...

WHOA!!!!!  WHERE THE HECK DID THAT COME FROM?!  

We are reading the same lyrics as she is singing right?  It amazes me how you can hear a song and read lyrics and to someone else it means THAT.  I literally feel like I need a bath after watching that!  I dont understand it?  The song says we found love, but nothing about that shows love....nothing!  It does show a hopeless place... but I dont see any love being found except for the drugs they were on.  Which brings me to my next cause of concern.  Is this what my kids are going to want to watch?!  Please say no, because Im about to freak out!  It almost seems like subliminal messages with the drugs and smoking flashing up there.  

I try my best to keep an open mind about a lot of things, but that is the beauty of it all.  You can have your opinion and I can have mine, and my opinion is that this is TRASH and it terrifies me that this video is being banned in other countries but ours accepts it openly. Am I just being "old fashioned"? Maybe I am, but in the end whats the harm in that?

A Dexter kind of Halloween

This past Saturday Nathan and I invited over all our friends for a Halloween get together!  I love entertaining and Halloween is so fun because you can just be silly and do things you normally wouldn't do....like dress up as a giant spoon and fork... or create a Dexter inspired Kill Room to freak out all your guests!  Thats exactly what we did and here are some pics to show you all our Halloween fun!

We roasted S'mores by the fire pit and made up an insanely stupid scary story.  Each person took a turn adding their own part of the story line, and needless to say, it got a little crazy!

I decorated the living room with cobwebs and a Happy Halloween banner in addition to my fall decor!

These were part of my menu!  I got this recipe from Pinterest and called them Italian Mummies!

When Dexter kills people (bad people) He always takes pictures of the killers victims and post them around the room so the killer knows why he is being murdered.  So, I went on facebook and pulled random pictures of my party guests and printed up photos of them to hang around the room to add an extra spooky feel!

I didn't get very good pics because I was in a hurry, but These are amazing Spinach Bowls I pulled from Pinterest!

This is my favorite Punch Recipe, its Cheerwine and Pinapple Juice!  I also filled a latex glove with water and froze it for the ice block.  It turned out great looking, but I dont think I washed the glove good enough because as it melted, it made the punch taste pretty bad....like a plastic glove.. so I had to brew up another batch without the hand....

The Spread:  Spinach Bowls, Cheese n Crackers, Italian Mummies, Mummy Dawgs, Mexican Spider Dip, Sausage Balls, and S'mores!

You can see the TV on in the background, we found a movie on Netflix that just loops old horror movie trailers!  It was fun to watch all of them because they were pretty corny!

I cant believe I didnt get a pic of it, but our sweet friends Wendy and Daniel announced that they are expecting!   She had on a shirt that said Mommy and Baby and his shirt said Daddy!  So sad I didnt get a pic!

What Im reading

Just wanted to share what Im currently reading.  I just started it last night and am on Chapter 2!

Also our small group is doing this study!

Sabbatical

 I have apparently taken an unintentional blogging sabbatical for some reason.  But just an update on what we have been up to!

After the cruise I basically blinked and the month of September was GONE!  Who stole it?  Where did it go?  I don't exactly want it back, but it should definitely not have been in such a hurry to leave! The Sunday we got back from cruising we went to our first Panther game of the season.  I have to say that even though we are loosing at least Cam Newton makes Carolina Panther football fun to watch!  Although last weeks game against Atlanta did remind me of the dreaded Jake days with those 3 interceptions.  But because of Cam, we can look forward hopefully toward the future and know that good things are in store!  I took pictures at this game, but apparently I have not uploaded them yet, so Ill update you with pics later.

The next Saturday Nathan and I along with a couple other friends from Bethlehem went to Family Night at Bit of Hope Ranch .  We did an acoustic praise and worship set and enjoyed the message and seeing all the kids and horses!  Bit of Hope is an awesome ministry check out the link!  The next day my sweet Nephew Ryder was dedicated and you can read all about that at Little Carrigan, my sissy's blog!

The next Wed. night I drove to Olive Garden at Concord Mills and had supper with my good friend Sarah!  She lives in Missouri and she flew into Charlotte for a quick business trip.  We had such a great time catching up, I miss her so much and she has a little boy that I am dying to meet.  We talked until about 9:30 and then she had to leave, hopefully it will not be another 2 years till I see her again.

The next Saturday Nathan and I went to see his nieces play Soccer in Kannapolis.  They were too cute and it was a beautiful day to sit outside and watch!

The following Saturday Nathan and I volunteered to work with a ministry through our church called Hope 4 Gaston.  It is an awesome outreach opportunity that our church helps host along with other churches in our area.  We offer free food, clothes, appliances and various things to anyone who comes.  There is also a block party wherever the event is located with Christian music, and they also pic several people in the community who need home repairs done and we fix their houses for free!  We also sponsor Woodhill Elementary School, which is a Title 1 School.  Nathan and I went out to the school and dug up old overgrown bushes, put out new mulch and cleaned up kudzu off a fence.  We both got bit about 20 times each by fire ants, and Nathan got bit by a spider, but it was worth it to help these kids have a better school!

Last weekend was a nice laid back weekend, I went shopping for a new comforter for our bed, the old one was washed a few times and shrunk.  Then Saturday night and Sunday we spent hanging out with Nates parents.  Sunday night we went to a class at church called Conversations for Couples, it just basically teaches you how to have a better meaningful conversation with your spouse!  

So... now that you are all caught up, this weekend Im going to go to a 31 Party.  Ive been hearing about these for a while but have never been to one, so Im looking forward to it and maybe I will get some of my Christmas list bought!  Sunday is a Panther game, maybe we will win this one!  :)

Cruising the Dream

We had such an amazing time on our cruise this September!  I wanted to take more pictures than what I did, but I also didnt want to hurt my camera so I didnt take it everywhere we went, which I now regret... oh well, there is always next time!  Hope you enjoy these pics!

My crazy hubby the night before the cruise!  We went down a day early and stayed at the Raddison at the Port.  Its a great deal with free parking, breakfast and a shuttle to the ship!

We got to see a rocket launch the next morning at Cape Canaveral, it was an awesome experience and Ill never forget it!

This is the next night which was our first formal night!  We had went to Nassau Bahamas that day and I didn't take my camera because we didn't do anything except walk through the straw market.

This little fellow was in St. Thomas!  We did not do an excursion there either, but we took a cab to the shopping section and walked the streets.  I had a blast just taking pictures on my own little excursion!

The Carnival Dream

Nathan and I at Paradise Point in St. Thomas.  The weather was bad because we were on the tail of TS Maria, the picture below is of a tornado we were watching!

We didn't parasail, but Becky and Randal rode jet skis and Nate and I just lounged on the beach and played in the water all day.  It was so beautiful there and the french were SO nice!

And last but not least, I got to be Aretha Franklin on the last night of the cruise for the Carnival Legends show!  I sang RESPECT with the live band and dancers!  It was so much fun!

Not pictured activities include Nathan and I doing the mud bath and the hot water going out and having to rinse it all off in ice cold water, massages in the spa = heavenly!  I got the bamboo and Nate did the hot stone, it was fantastic!  We also visited the gym several times, I ran my first 5k on the treadmill on the ship and we did morning stretch classes a couple times!  Nathan and I also did the special steak house where they serve only prime beef, my filet was MELT IN YOUR MOUTH GOOD!  And the rest of the time we laid around, ate and read books!
